What is a dental implant?

Dental Implants provide a fixed replacement for missing teeth. Having missing teeth can really knock your confidence, and can make you feel embarrassed. A dental implant is a long-term solution for replacing missing teeth. You can have them placed directly into your mouth, where they provide an artificial replacement for the root of your missing tooth or teeth. They can support crowns, bridges or dentures.

A dental implant itself is a titanium screw, which works at replacing your missing tooth root. After it’s fitted, the bone surrounding your implant will gradually fuse to it. This helps hold your implant firmly in place. An artificial tooth (a crown, bridge or denture), which looks just like a normal tooth, is then fitted to the top of the implant. This gives you a natural look to your smile.

What are the benefits of dental Implants?

Compared to alternative options, dental implants not only look natural, but function like your own teeth. It is even possible to replace all your teeth with a full mouth of fixed dental implants, or an implant retained denture. The benefits of having Dental Implants include:
